„Verhaal van een vreeselijk toneel op de
Noordzee, tijdens het vergaan van het visch-
bunhoekerschip genaamd: Haringvisscherij,
gedurende den orkaan van 3 en 4 Dec. 1867",
uitgegeven te Vlaardingen in 1868. Als die foto
in Engeland gemaakt is zou dat gebeurd
kunnen zijn na die redding door Engelsen! Hij
was toen inderdaad begin 20... Het glasplaatje
met de foto is geschonken aan het Vlaardings
Museum.

The Wall...
'The Surveying Profession is rarely glamouri
sed with monuments and statues so this was a
rare find hidden in the Tasmanian bush.
(Tasmania is the big island to the south of the
Australian mainland, affectionately known as
Tassie, pronounced Tazzie). The timber is
Huon Pine, a beautiful, sweet smelling timber
from ancient trees. Well worth a visit fellow

Artist Greg Duncan is creating a stunning
sculpture at Derwent Bridge in the heart of
Tasmania. The Wall in the Wilderness is Greg
Duncan's commemoration of those who helped
shape the past and present of Tasmania's cen
tral highlands.
A work in progress, The Wall is being carved
from three-metre high wooden panels. The
carved panels will tell the history of the harsh
Central Highlands region - beginning with the
indigenous people, then to the pioneering tim
ber harvesters, pastoralists, miners and Hydro
workers. When completed The Wall will be
100 metres long. Greg Duncan's sculpture
The Wall will rank as a major work of art and
tourist attraction in Tasmania.'

International Map Year 2015/2016
'2015-2016 staan in het teken van 'Internatio
