Lopik. Onder gunstige omstandig
heden, 45 km van Lopik, werd in de
enkele positiefix een standaardafwij
king onder het meter-niveau verkre
gen. Dit is aantrekkelijk voor vele toe
passingen. In stedelijk gebied werden
matige resultaten verkregen door de
invloed van gebouwen en bomen die
de satellieten afschermen of multi-
path-effecten veroorzaken. Bij de test
meting in Rotterdam werden hiaten
van ongeveer 50% in de positiefixen
gevonden.
Test with Differential GPS using cor
rections by RDS
The DGPS/RDS service in the Nether
lands supplies high quality pseudo-range
corrections. It involves one reference sta
tion at the FM transmitter Lopik and
five (in the future possibly six) FM
transmitters to relay the corrections over
the entire country. The accuracy attai
nable depends mainly on the surroun
dings of the observer's position. In addi
tion, the quality of the user's equipment
(both GPS and FM band receivers) and
the quality of the user's software are im
portant. Under good conditions, 45 km
from the reference stationthe standard
deviation of the single position is be
neath the one meter level. This is very
attractive for many applications. In ur
ban areas one may miss many (D)GPS
observations due to obstacles and multi-
path effects. In the test along the 42 km
marathon route in Rotterdam about
50% of the positions were missed due to
obstacles and multipath effects. For the
same reason, the accepted 50% of the
positions have a lower accuracy.
