Map Integrator; update propagation between independent topographic databases The subject of this article is the building of a prototype of a Map Integrator. One of the long term goals is to reduce the need for operator intervention in update operations between related objects in different databases. This paper deals with a first trial of the Map Integrator on buildings from two in dependently surveyed and maintained topographic databases. Central to the issue of update propagation is certainty of equivalence of different object representations. A six step strategy is developed for finding equivalent or similar objects, and for processing and propagating updates. Aggregation and generalization issues of updated objects are also discussed.
