New dimension to digital
photogrammetry

After the analogue to digital switch of
image analysis and end products in photo-
grammetry in the nineties, now a tendency
can he seen from analogue to digital acqui
sition of aerial images. Digital sensors pro
duce high resolution image data without
the necessity of an AD-conversion. High
radiometric resolutions and multispectral
properties may result in better interpreta
tion and segmentation of the acquired scene
compared to normal images. Line scanner
data need to be treated with special care, be
cause of the weak acquisition geometry of
the sensor.
