Are you being served?
The requirement for interoperability has
been around in the field of Gt for quite some
time. This requirement can be realised by
implementing a Service Oriented Architec-
ture(SOA). Such an architecture not only be
nefits from Gl-specific standards of the Open
Geospatial Consortium (OGC), but also
(open) standards from the field of generic IT
practice. Current developments take place
rapidly. An important aspects is the deve

Résumé
Dans le domaine de Vinformation géographique il y a depuis un
certain temps une demande d'interopérabïlité. Par Vimplémenta-
tion d'une architecture orientée service, ceci peut être réalisé. Dans
ce cadre non seulement les standards du Open GIS Consortium sont
importants, mais aussi ceux du monde de la technologie de la com
munication et de Vinformation. Les développements dans ce domai
ne vont bon train. Importants sont les développements pour lafour-
niture de données et les fonctionnalités de services géographiques
sur la Toile a partir des systèmes existants.
En couplant les services, les applications peuvent être construites dy-
namiquement. L'architecture orientée service ainsi créée, devient la
plateforme de 1'intégration. Ceci est une opportunité dans le domai
ne de 1'information géographique.
