Applicatie Kemgis: maatwerk voor snelwegbeheer
Rijkswaterstaat investeert sinds 1991 in een eigen applicatie Kern-
gis ter ondersteuning van operationeel beheer van de circa driedui
zend kilometer autosnelweg in Nederland. De naam Kemgis werd
gekozen vanwege het uitgangspunt van een groeiscenario qua
breedte en functionaliteit. Eind 2004 werd landelijke implementatie
van intussen versie 9 van Kemgis bereikt. Dit artikel beschrijft de
bedrijfseigen en technologische ontwikkelingen over de afgelopen
vijftien jaar. Een actualiteit is dat Wegendistricten nu onder ande
re binnen twee jaar worden voorzien van digitale kabel- en leidin
genregistraties.

Application Kemgis: made-to-measure for management of high
ways
Since 1991, the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water
Management invests in the proprietary application Kemgis that
underpins the operational management of threethousand kilome
tres of motorway in the Netherlands. The name Kemgiscore
GIS) was chosen to represent its aim to grow in versatility and func
tionality. By the end of 2004 a national implementation of Kemgis
version 9, an application built around ESRI's ArcGIS9, was accom
plished. This article describes the proprietary and technological de
velopments over the last fifteen years. Within the next two years all
motorway maintenance authorities will be provided with digital
cable and pipe registrations.

In juli 2005 ontvingen alle ruim tiendui
zend RWS-ers van de directeur-generaal een
kleurige flyer 'Een nieuw fimctiegebouw
voor Rijkswaterstaat'. Men gaat van 4500
verschillende functiebeschrijvingen naar
22 functiegroepen in zes functiefamilies.
Als enige voorbeeld werd in de flyer het
