TOPIONL in GML3
In 2006, the Topographic Service in the Netherlands will start deli
vering the object oriented TOPIONL file, the successor ofTOPlOvec-
tor. New features are the completely redesigned data structure and
the choice of a new exchange format, Geography Markup Language
(GML). At present, data producers and data users exchange data in
several software product and national standards, with lots of
conversions and data losses as a consequence. For that reason the
choice fell on this unambiguous standard which is recommended
both nationally and internationally. Some properties of GML are
explained, on the basis of the implementation of GML in TOPIONL.
