A cultural comparison of the Cadastre
and the Department of Public Works as
mirror of the National Geographic Infor
mation Infrastructure
Organisational cultures are relentless, diffi
cult to change and appear to have a great
impact on the attitude of organisations to
wards geo-information. In this article, the
Cadastre and the Department of Public
Works, two dominant organisations in the
Dutch geo-information sector, are being re
viewed based on a theory of organisational
cultures to investigate the relation between
organisational cultures and the use of geo-
information. The results are linked to the
problems to establish a Natmial Geographic
Information Infrastructure.

Une comparaison culturelle du Cadastre
et de Rijkswaterstaat comme miroir du
NGII
Les cultures d'organisation sont acharne'es,
difficiles a modifier et semblent avoir une in
fluence importante sur la gestion interne de
l'information géographique. Le Cadastre et
Rijkswaterstaat (administration néerlan-
daise des Ponts et Chaussées) - deux
administrations mattresses dans le domaine
de l'information géographique - sont étudiés dans le contexte d'une
théorie sur la culture organisationnelle. Ainsi la relation autre la
culture organisationnelle et l'emploi de l'information géographique
sont étudiés. Les conclusions sont comparées avec la problématique
de la réalisation du NGII.

Binnen de afdeling Personeel, Organisatie en Automatisering is GEO-informatievoor-
ziening een nieuw beleidsterrein. De beleidsmedewerker GEO-informatie is belast
met de voorbereiding en coördinatie van het beleid en de strategie en adviseert over
de optimale inzet van GEO-informatie. Afhankelijk van je kennis en ervaring bieden
we een salaris van maximaal €4.159,— (schaal 11) bruto per maand.
