Can your GIS-research contribute to understand the Dutch climate? Rijk The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) is the national institute for meteorology, climate research and seismology. KNMI is an agency of the Ministry of Transport. KNMI provides weather related services to the public at large, the government, aviation and the shipping industry. Research at KNMI focuses on applied meteorology, climate and seismology. KNMI operates a ground-based sensor network and is strongly involved in a large number of space-born missions, both operational and scientific. Archiving and dissemination of data is part of KNMI's mission. At KNMI the R&D division for Information and Observation Technology is responsible for all IT and sensor developments. The division has a permanent staff of eighteen persons that includes project managers, researchers in the fields of IT and sensor technology and software specialists. Various projects are supported by a temporary staff of about eight persons, which includes students, software developers and postdocs. The division is involved in projects for KNMI as well as for external parties (ESA, EU, EUMETSAT, etc.). More information? www.knmi.nl.
