EduGIS: Educational GIS portal
EduGIS is een educatieve website, bestemd voor leerlin
gen van het middelbaar onderwijs. De website fungeert
als middel om leerlingen kennis te laten maken met de
kracht van Geografische Informatiesystemen in het kader
van het aardrijkslcundeonderwijs. Naast diverse lesmodu
les, waar leerlingen door middel van vragen en opdrachten
geografische vraagstukken oplossen, bevat de website een
groot aantal geografische kaartlagen die als achtergrond
of informatiebasis dienen voor de lesmodules. De basis
wordt gevormd door topografische kaartlagen in elf zoorn-
niveaus. Verder is toegevoegd het Actueel Hoogtebestand
van Nederland (AHN), waarmee op detailniveau de hoogte
van het terrein, in stedelijk gebied van bebouwing kan wor
den vastgesteld. Voorts zijn opgenomen de kadastrale per
celen waarmee de oppervlakte en adressen kunnen worden
geïdentificeerd, het grondgebruik en diverse statistische
gegevens over bevolking per gemeente. De kaartlagen kun
nen onderling transparant worden afgebeeld zodat diverse
kaartlagen eenvoudig vergeleken kunnen worden. In de ko
mendejaren zal het aantal kaartlagen en lesmodules verder
worden uitgebreid.
EduGIS is an educational website aimed at secondary
school pupils. The website is a tool for pupils to familia
rize themselves with the power of Geographic Information
Systems in the geography curriculum. Besides various tea
ching packs, encouraging pupils to solve geographic issues
through questions and tasks, the website provides a range
of geographic maps as background or information layer for
these teaching packs. The base map is the topographic map
available at 11 levels of detail. Another layer is the Actual
Elevation model of the Netherlands to assess in detail the
terrain relief and building height in built-up areas. Further
more, the website contains cadastral parcels to identify the
addresses, but also land use and various statistical data
about the population per municipality. The transparency of
the map layers can be set, to easily compare the map layers.
In the next few years, the number of map layers and tea
ching packs will grow.
