sentatie kiezen.
ToplONL is the successor to the digital topographic da
ta set ToplOvector, the topographic base map at scale
1:10,000. The new data format is object-oriented, i.e. the
topographic reality is stored in a Digital Landscape Model
(DLM) with objects that have a geometry and various attri
butes. The model distinguishes ten object classes: roads, rail
ways, water, buildings, terrain, street furniture, relief, geo
graphic areas, functional areas and administrative areas.
The data model is based on the Dutch standard NEN 3610
Base Model Geo information and is thus aligned with inter
national standards from ISO and OGC. Each object has des
criptive, identifying, temporal and metadata attributes. The
visualization is not stored per object, but can be assigned to
an object from a separate table. However, this depends on
the GIS package being used. The Dutch Land Registry Office
supplies a standard visualization, but users can select their
own presentation. In the Netherlands, a system of authen
tic registers will be introduced over the next few year. This
means that the government has to create, maintain and up
date several registers. These registers are distributed across
governmental organizations and have to used for specific
applications. The ToplONL has been identified as the au
thentic register for Topography and will become the official
base map in 2008. The currency of the data set will be im
proved from four years to two years.
