J.C. Müller - Developpement des connaissances en matiere de
generalisation basee sur des regles
L 'article passe en revue les efforts entrepris par le passe et
actuellement en cours en vue d'automatiser le Processus de
generalisation cartographique. II constate la reorientation des
recherches au depart d'une approche purement geometrique
vers des methodes conceptuelles basees sur certaines regles er
orientees vers certains objectifs. Dans la deuxieme partie de
1'article, l'auteur analyse deux projets en cours de realisation
en cette matiere. Le premier reprend des regles de production
derivees du Guide topographique national neerlandais tandis
que l'autre traite des efforts systematiques en matiere de
generalisation dans les series de cartes topographiques entre
pris et en France et en Allemagne.
L'article est la traduction d'un rapport präsente la XVe

A. Dortland - Production automatique de la carte topogra
phique 1:250.000
En 1990, le Service Topographique des Pays-Bas avait mis en
Service de nouveaux equipements et logiciels pour la produc
tion automatique des cartes. C'est un scanner-plotter Optro-
nics 4040 et un Interpro 340 d'Intergraph qui servent comme
'hardware'.
Quant au logiciel, il s'agit, e.a. de 'Map Publisher' pouvant
introduire les donnees 'raster' dans le Systeme oü la produc
tion des plaques d'impression - couleurs separees et haute
resolution - est assuree par Optronics. De plus, d'autres pro-
grammes sont egalement disponibles pour traiter des donnees
'vector' et 'raster'.
La premiere carte rpoduite l'aide de ce nouvel equipement
est la feuille NN-31-9 Leeuwarden de la serie 1501 l'echelle
de 1:250.000 dont un exemplaire est joint au present numero
de la KT. L 'article analyse, etape par etape, la methode de
travail appliquee, au depart des donnees de base vectorielles
disponibles, jusqu 'au dessin automatique de la Präsentation
cartographique finale.

Voor de volgende editie, die al snel nodig is, zal Neder-
land ook een kleurtje moeten krijgen, omdat we tegen
die tijd zelf ook een identifikatieplicht hebben als we
onze voordeur achter ons dicht trekken. De Baltische
landen zullen moeten worden ingetekend, en misschien
ook Wit-Rusland, de Oekraine, Moldavie, Georgie (of
Groezie?) en Armenie ook wel. En tegen de tijd dat
deze KT uw brievenbus bereikt is Joegoslavie wellicht
ook vervangen door een aantal nieuwe ministaatjes met
allemaal eigen eisen aan de reispapieren. Laten we ho-
pen dat er daar dan nog veel bezienswaardige zaken
overeind zullen staan.
