cart/^/lNFO €F cart/VlNFO m MF cart/o/INFO The cart/o/INFO Software is constructed in a modular way for optimal use. It comprises three main levels which are mutually interconnected: data base level, background level and object level (see cart/o/INFO flow Chart). Data base level Cart/o/INFO possesses its own, unstructured, object oriented data base which contains text, tables, graphics and illustrative Information. In this way the most diverse types of data can be unified, structured and made available for further use. At the data base level the separate object oriented data such as text, tables and graphics are stored. Interfaces between the various levels and with external data bases make an individual relationship with the data possible. (JNFO M Object level The objects selected on the background map can be further manipulated. All relevant Information relating to a given object of specific projects can be requested (diagrams, text, tables etc.). In addition mathematical and Statistical calculations can be carried out. With cart/o/INFO you are at all times able to manage and utilize measurement data, point data and geometri-cally and thematically determined objects within one project. At the object level the various object data are stored and continously supple-mented. These are in general obtainable in varying measurements, Information densities and types and must be converted into the same form. The cart/o/INFO system enables individual, made-to-measure applications to be developed and offers the user numerous combination possibilities. The different needs of the user, which ränge from thematic maps to complex spatial Information Systems, can therefore be met at low cost. The request, Illustration and output System adapted to a particular problem, is represented in a made-to-measure graphical user- interface. The concept of cart/o/INFO is the realisation of made-to-measure spatial Information Systems flexibly adapted to the needs of the user and offering the possibility of - problem free - magnifying, altering, adapting or adding functions to the Solutions. The three main levels of cart o INFO Interfaces Background level At the background level the various basic maps are compiled. At this level basic maps can be found of a most varied scale and resolution. They can be scanned, digitised or imported and can be stored either digitally or as graphic data. By means of Virtual use unlimited quantities of data can be handled, for example rastered maps, cadastral maps, digitised street maps, weather maps, satellite images, and aerial photographs. They are all shown at different levels and can be selectively chosen. The selected objects can be projected on the screen against each of these backgrounds according to the wishes of the user, magnified or reduced at will. A simultaneous projection of different types of maps, plans, photographs, graphics and tables on the screen is possible at all times. Data base level »Text Statistics Graphics b. The appearance of the map is created by combining data sheets in which information is stored separately. Complete working processes with respect to the creation of maps can be reused for the production of similar new maps. It also enables basic maps to be digitised with normal serial mouse or mouse Simulation digitising tablets in a user friendly way. cart/o/DAT stores Standard graphic parameters, functions, text positions etc. for sets of maps in an internal data base. A dialogue oriented import and export interface analyses and transforms external data with varied formats. cart/o/GIS contains formulae and functions for the transformation of data as well as the usual GIS functions, for example the amalgamation of polygons into indices or polygons into raster (grid) information, the overlaying and the calculation of (new) polygons etc. cart/o/ATLAS compiles montages of large scanned background maps. The different parts of the maps can be combined into one map, catalogued and reduced to up to 30% of the original storage space. Import/export module This module offers, furthermore, the possibility of importing existing basic maps from other programmes (e.g. ARC/INFO, SICAD). cart/o/INFO, cart/o/EXTEND, cart/o/RUN use the modules in a made-to-measure graphical user-interface. cart/o/info AG 1992 cart/o/info AG is not responsible for possible future alterations or printing errors.
