On the way with TOPlOvector
TOPlOvector is the Netherlands data-
base covering the medium scale ränge
from 15000 to 125 000. The database
consists oftwo parts, a topographical and
a cartographical one.
TOPlOvector is produced by Topogra
fische Dienst Nederland (TDN). A
complete coverage of the country will be
realized by 1997. In this articlethe ins
and outs of TOPlOvector are discussed.
The process of change from analogue
mapping to digital database creation is
described in terms of technical changes
and as a mental process, leading to a
change in culture. Digital data create a
new market with new and old customers,
and new requirements. The relationship
with the market place is twofold. The
customers want geographical data from
TDN, on the other hand TDN wants
data from the market to maintain and
expand the database.
