On behalf of the Cadastral Service ofthe Netherlands Antilles
KLM AEROCARTO has revised the existing topographic map
1:25,000, produced in 1978. Apart from a printed map a digital
data base was now also required by the client. In 1989 KLM
AEROCARTO had made new aerial photography of the Island
and, using photogrammetric methods, had produced a Large
Scale Base Map ofCuragao (gbkc). The GBKC has the form of
a vector database for representation at the scales 1:500, 1:1000,
1:2000 and 1:5000. That vector database forms the base for the
new mapping project. Moreover two other data sets were found
to be necessary. The 1978 topographic map was scanned to be
used as a reference to support the generalisation and name
placement. For updating the data from the ip8p gbkc new ae
rial photography was made, from which a dtm and orthopho-
tos were derived. The article describes in detail how, from these
three datasets, the new 1:25,000 map was produced, in analo-
gue as well as digital form.

KLM AEROCARTO vient de reviser la carte topographique exi-
stante au 1:25.000, publiee en 1978. Outre une carte imprimee,
le client souhaitait egalement disposer d'une base de donnees
numerique. En ip8p KLM AEROCARTO a procede la nouvelle
Photographie aerienne de l'ile et, utilisant des methodes photo-
grammetriques, avait etabli la 'gbkc': la carte de base grün
de echelle du Curagao (vector) pouvant servir pour des repre-
sentations cartographiques aux echelles de 1:500, 1:1.000, 1:2.000
et 1:5.000. Sur cette base de donnees cartographique deux autres
series ont ete realisees savoir la carte topographique de 1978 a
ete passee au Scanner afin de pouvoir utiliser comme reference
pour la generalisation et la toponymie. D'autre part, partir
des donnees 1989 de la GBKC, mises jour, de nouvelles photos
aeriennes ont ete faites donnant naissance au modele numeri
que du terre (dtm) et des orthophotos. L'article analyse, en
detail, comment, au depart de ces trois bases de donnees, la
nouvelle carte au 1:25.000 a ete realisee aussi bien sous forme
analogique que numerique.
