opgeleverd.

Summary
Bin Jiang - Linguistic uncertainty in spatial analysismodel-
ing and visualization
Keywords: cartographic visualization, modelling of geo
graphical information, quality control
Modeling and visualization are two aspects of uncertainty in
formation in the integration of remote sensing and GIS data.
The concept of an uncertainty sublayer is defined in order to
understand and pereeive uncertainty thoroughly. Although this
paper is initially oriented to linguistic uncertainty, some basic
approaches are also applicable to other types of uncertainty. It is
concluded that the combination of modeling and visualization
can improve the functionality of Gis in spatial analysis and Vi
sual decision making. Specifically, the fuzzy overlay model is
an extension ofthe overlay Operation, and conducted pereep-
tion tests illustrate some useful results regarding the use of color
to represent uncertainty.
