tieve verbetering ejfects for the local population. Currently a planning support
bereikbaarheid. System (ACCESSMAP) is being developed to allow decision takers
to see' these ejfects as consequences of proposed development
scenarios. Visualisation of the results of accessibility analysis is
therefore ofprime importance. This paper describes the various
steps undertaken in a Gis-based accessibility analysis and shows
the maps used to illustrate the outcome of each Step. It is con-
cluded that good visualisation is a necessary element of any
planning support system and even research tools should be
equipped with some functionality in this respect.
