ledere nationale overheid zal de gegevens voor EuroMap voor
her eigen grondgebied onder eigen verantwoordelijkheid en op
eigen kosten voorbereiden. Daarom is het moeilijk voor heel
Europa een straffe en uniforme producde-dienstregeling vast
te leggen. De autoriteiten in Oost-Europa hebben op dit ogen-
blik de handel meer dan vol aan de opbouw van hun kadas-
ters. In veel West-Europese staten is er sprake van reorganisa-
ties waardoor men geen toezeggingen op lange termijn kan
doen. Bovendien hangt de realisatie van de eerste stap af van
de verlening van de gebruiksrechten door de VMap cd-rom
producenten. Op basis van de huidige situatie tekent zieh af
dat voor Midden-Europa met Duitsland, de Benelux en Zwit-
serland als eerste de EuroMap ter beschikking zal komen.

The official European surveying and mapping organisations are
busy with the preparations for a European topographic databank
at the scale 1:250.000. A pilot project named PETIT (Pathfinder
towards the European Topographic Information Template) is at
the moment under way. The partieipants are the National Map
ping Organisations of Belgium, France, Great Britain and the
Netherlands, the Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie
(Germany), plus a French and a British private Company.
MEGRIN is in financial control of the project. The project part
ners are working together on a prototype and are testing it on se-
lected users.

Die europäischen Behörden für die amtliche Kartographie planen
einen europaweiten topographischen Datenbestand in der Auflö
sung 1:250.000. Zur Senkung der Kosten und Beschleunigung des
Vorhabens soll sich die topographische Datenbank weitgehend an
die Vmap (Vector Map) der NATO anlehnen. In einem Pilotpro
jekt mit dem Kurznamen PETIT (Pathfinder towards tje Europe
an Topographic Information Template) wird ein Prototyp des ge
planten zivilen Produkts hergestellt. Die nationalen Behörden
sind mit der Produktion im Herbst 1999 begonnen.
