Netherlands

In 1975 the Government prepared a Royal Decree concerning the
production, maintenance and delivery of a Large Scale Base Map
of the Netherlands by the Netherlands Cadastre. Also a Central
Council for Mapping was established with the task to advise the
Minister on the policy to realise this task.
In a period of 25 years with many ups and downs this task has
been fulfilled for almost the whole country. In this article an over-
view is given of the process leading to the Royal Decree and ofthe
period leading to the realisation ofthis map.

En 197$ le Gouvernement a prepare un decret royal concernant la
production, mise jour et livraison d'une carte de base grande
echelle des Pays-Bas, confiees au Service du cadastre. En meme
temps, il a ete etabli un Conseil central de cartographie, ayant une
tdche consultative aupres du ministre afin de realiser l'objectif
vise. Pendant la periode de 27 ans ecoulee, ceux-ci ont ete realises -
apres parfois quelques vicissitudes - pour presque le pays entier.
L 'evolution en est esquissee dans Tarticle depuis le debut de l'ini-
tiative menant vers le decret royal et vers la realisation de cette
carte.
