Map of The Netherlands as source for the TOPiovector database:
present stage of the research

The Topografische Dienst Nederland (TDN: the national map-
ping agency), the Kadaster (the national cadastre) and the Lande
lijk Samenwerkingsverband GBKN (the national board for the
Large Scale Base Map of The Netherlands) have investigated the
technical feasibility for maintaining TOPiovector using change-
only data from the GBKN. The purpose is to accelerate the revi-
sion cycle from four to two years. This article reflects the results of
research carried out so far. It deals with the results from practical
tests of an interactive production method and elaborated theoreti-
cal concepts ofmap integration and update propagation. The arti
cle ends by stating the steps which have to be taken in order to re-
alise the maintenance of TOPiovector based on GBKN-data.

Le Service topographique national (TDN), le Cadastre et le Ser
vice national de Cooperation (Landelijk Samenwerkingsverband)
pour une carte de base grande echelle des Pays-Bas (GBKN-
LSV) ont examine ensemble l'opportunite de maintenir la
TOPiovector methode pour les changements intervenus dans le
cadre de GBKN et ceci afin de reduire le cycle de revision de quat-
re deux ans. L 'article analyse les resultats des recherches obtenus
jusqu 'aujourd'hui, notamment ceux des tests pratiques quant a la
methode de production interactive, Les theories de Tintegration
cartographique et la mise jour. Enfin, il indique les mesures
prendre afin de pouvoir maintenir le TOPiovector bast sur les
donnees de GBKN.
