te zijn om de analyseprocedures, de criteria en de manier waar-
op aan criteria scores worden toegekend vrij te definieren en
aan te passen. Anders ontstaat het gevoel dat er voorgebakken
oplossingsrichtingen aangeboden worden. Het door de eindge-
bruiker vrij laten definieren van analyseprocedures en criteria
is niet eenvoudig. Weer geldt dat de technologie niet sturend
mag zijn, en dat de bewerkingen die met het instrument wor
den uitgevoerd inzichtelijk moeten zijn. Dit zijn zeker geen
triviale zaken, en zolang hiervoor geen afdoende oplossingen
gevonden zijn, blijven wij voorzichtig met het toevoegen van
dit soort extra's.
Noot
1. In de eenvoudige uitvoering van het smartboard Staat de projector
voor het scherm, waardoor de gebruikers steeds door de lichtstraal
lopen. Bij de uitgebreidere versies Staat de projector achter het
scherm, of bestaat het scherm uit een groot LCD-display waardoor
dit probleem niet meer voorkomt.

GIS', aprototype application for use inparticipatory planning

This paper describes the development of 'OntwerpGIS', a map
sketching tool to be used in Interactive and participatory planning
sessions. The sessions are characterised by the fact that the partici-
pants are stakeholders in the planning process, but these partici-
pants are not necessarily experts in GIS concepts and in GIS func-
tionality. The paper describes severalproblems that need to be ad-
dressed to ensure a successful introduction of complicated informa-
tion technology in these type of participatory processes. The paper
lists the requirements definedfor the 'OntwerpGIS'prototype, and
it presents some ofthe experiences with the use of the tool.
