Many thematic world mups dealing with the problems of human
development illustrate this hy means of 'static' phenomena and
data such as nutrition capacity, under)nourishment and all kinds
of agricultural and other economic items. In this article, a food
security map is presented showing a near future world picture of
the seif supporting capacity of all the nations in the world
concerning nutrition and the minimum life conditions to fulfil it.
Many parameters are used to realise this picture. Noteworthy is
the fact that most countries that are not doing well do not have
good prospects without external assistance. Even some countries
which appear to be in a relatively good position at the moment
have an uncertain future.

Beaucoup de cartes thematiques du Monde representent les
problemes du developpement par des phenomenes et donnees
'statiques' tels que par exemple capacite alimentaire, sous-
alimentation, production et productivite agricoles, (sur-)
peuplement, bilans et d'autres indicateurs economiques.
L 'article presente une autre approche cartographique plus complete
en representant d'une part une serie de parametres et d'autre part
une vue prospective sur la qualite de vie de la population. II saute
aux yeux que la plupart des pays necessiteux n 'ont pas de bonnes
perspectives de developpement sans aide exterieure. La carte en
annexe l'illustre bien plus explicitement que les tableaux
statistiques diffuses habituellement.
