Hoewel we zeker niet de illusie hebben dat we met de intro-
ductie van de J2e editie van De Grote BosatLas de ideale school-
adas voor de 2ie eeuw al gerealiseerd hebben, zijn er twee rede-
nen waarom er op körte termijn geen ingrijpende vernieuwin-
gen in het concept van De Grote Bosatlas zullen worden
doorgevoerd. In de eerste plaats zijn in het examenprogramma
tot 2007 uitsluitend de 5ie en 52e editie van De Grote Bosatlas
toegelaten. Voor die datum nog een derde variant van de atlas
introduceren, zou ons door het onderwijs zeker niet in dank
worden afgenomen. Verder werkt de huidige leerplancommis-
sie op dit moment aan een herziening van het leerplan voor de
Tweede Fase waarvan de invoering op het programma Staat
voor 2006 of 2007. Zolang de contouren van het nieuwe leer
plan niet bekend zijn, heeft de redactie geen houvast voor con-
ceptuele wijzigingen. Door deze tijdelijke windstilte heeft de
redactie even de tijd voor een evaluatie van haar huidige aan-
bod en een bezinning op nieuwe didactische en/of technologi
sche concepten. De tijd zal echter vooral gebruikt moeten
worden om het daadwerkelijk gebruik van het huidige aanbod
sterk te stimuleren. Alleen een schoolatlas die werkelijk ge
bruikt wordt kan mogelijkerwijs aanspraak maken op het pre-
dikaat ideale schoolatlas voor de 2ie eeuw.

In 2001, the $2nd edition of the 'Grote Bosatlas' was published.
Düring its revision, the editors have again tried to adhere closely
to the current geography curriculum. Apart from an increased
attention to general map skills, the application of digital
techniques plays a central role in this curriculum. Therefore, for
the first time in the history of the atlas, there is a multi-media
concept in which the various components of the atlas folio, cd-
rom, and Website each contribute in their own way to a
complete atlas. In this article, the motivations for the concept
development will be discussed, the functionality of the various
digital components will be described, and the first user experiences
will be assessed.

parier d'un veritable concept multimedia, reunissant pages fiolio,
cd-rom et un site du Reseau dans un concept d'ensemble.
L'evolution de celui-ci est analysee dans 1'article, y compris les
motivations qui en sont la base et les fonetions de chacun des
elements informatiques et un inventaire des premieres experiences
des usages.
