then z may be tested with the following degrees of freedom
As may be seen from the table the conclusions are corroborated;
in all the cases the hypothesis is rejected and also the normal white
colour gives the best visibility. The results of table 4 maY also be
interpreted in a different way, viz. as a confirmation of the obser
vers' ability to permform the requested classification.
Concerning the different dimensions the following can be said:
generally the probability that a signal will be invisible will grow with
decreasing dimension of the signal. So the dimension we use for a
certain scale could be determined by means of the risk we are
prepared to take; the risk namely that the signal will be invisible.
A good method seems to choose the signal size rather on the
large side, as the cost of signalisation-material will probably be
small compared to other factors. It is however beyond the scope of
this paper to go into this matter more thoroughly. Roughly,
30 X 30 cm will be a good size for the scale 1: 10,000; on other
scales the dimension can be accordingly smaller.
Photogrammetrische Wochen 1 962
R. Finsterwalder (T.H. München) en Prof. Dr. K. Schwidefsky
(T.H. Karslruhe)De firma Zeiss-Aerotopograph zorgde voor de
demonstraties van hun fotogrammetrische instrumenten.
De 22 wetenschappelijke voordrachten werden bijna alle in de
Duitse taal gehouden.
